Placement & Proportion Guidelines

To ensure your console table feels proportionate and purposeful, consider these simple spatial guidelines:

1. Entryway Scale: Choose a console table that spans roughly half to two-thirds the width of the wall behind it. Ensure there is at least 36 inches of open walkway space in front for comfortable entryway traffic.
2. Behind-Sofa Placement: When placing a console table behind a sofa, select a table height that is level with or approximately 1 inch lower than the back cushions. The table length should span about two-thirds of the total sofa back.
3. Pairing with Art & Mirrors: An entryway console pairs naturally with a large wall mirror or artwork. Hang the artwork so its lower edge sits 6 to 8 inches above the surface of the table to keep the visual pairing grounded.
