Display Cabinets: Room for What You Collect

Choosing for Your Room

  • Display and storage: Think about what you want to see and what you prefer behind closed doors. Check shelf depth and spacing against your tallest vase or largest platter, and confirm shelf capacity for heavier pieces. Drawers and enclosed cupboards give table linens and everyday items their own place.
  • Proportions and placement: Measure the cabinet at its widest and deepest points, allowing room for doors to open and dining chairs to pull out nearby. Check the delivery route, too. Consider how window reflections and any interior lighting will affect your view through the glass.

Making the Display Your Own

  • Mixing pieces and periods: A contemporary cabinet can frame inherited china; an antique breakfront can hold modern ceramics. Group objects by colour, material or shape, vary their heights and leave some space between them. The cabinet needn’t match the dining table to feel at home beside it.
  • Options worth exploring: For new cabinets, ask which finishes, shelving and lighting options the manufacturer offers for that model. With vintage and antique pieces, our in-house workshop can assess repairs, refinishing or interior changes, taking original glass, finishes and fittings into account.

Bring room measurements and photographs of the pieces you’d like to display to Kennedy Galleries in Etobicoke. We help homeowners across Toronto and the GTA compare new, vintage and antique cabinets for their homes.

Don’t see what you have in mind? Talk with our in-house workshop about a custom build.
